"Kowboy" Mike Hughes def. "X-Fit Beast" Kirk Aubé by pin fall in a Number One Contenders match. Prior to the match, Red Rock Wrestling President, Jonathan Cairns, announced "Kowboy" Mike Hughes as the number one contender for the Red Rock Wrestling Heavyweight Championship but was interrupted by the champion, "The Big Picture" Chris Cooke, and his legal representative, Dr. Samuel Feinstein. Feinstein produced a document indicating that Cooke had already given "Kowboy" Mike Hughes a title match (May 12, 2017), and a rematch (July 16, 2017), therefore he was not obligated to defend his Red Rock Wrestling Heavyweight Championship tonight versus "Kowboy" Mike Hughes. Before the champion could leave the ring, President Cairns clarified that it stated that Cooke does not have to defend the championship against Kowboy tonight, however, it did not state that he is not obligated to defend the championship tonight. Cairns announced that Cooke will be defending the title in the main event versus a mystery opponent.
